Summary/Abstract: In the past several decades, the concept of globalization entered into the discourse of social sciences, as well as into everyday language, and became one of the most applied terms to explain ever more complex social reality of the modern world. As it became almost “a common phrase” or buzzword (Scholte, 2000), it is more and more difficult to determine the meaning of globalization and give it a precise definition. A myriad of theoretical descriptions and attempts to define globalization have only produced confusions about its meaning, as in scientific and professional, so in public circles. Although various forms of “globalization” existed before, in different historical epochs , modern processes of globalization have been accelerated due to the development of information technologies that enable unthinkable possibilities of “networking”, faster flow of information as well as growth of awareness of global interconnection.
