Summary/Abstract: In the very beginning of the 21st century, the new information and communication technologies significantly changed all aspects of human life, economy and society. The cultural and art organizations faced a number of challenges to survive and keep their sustainability. The following paper \focuses on the cultural entrepreneurship as a possible solution for the functioning of cultural organizations under the new circumstances. The European Union pays more attention to the need of stimulating the entrepreneurial practices and innovations in the sector. However, there is not one single position on the scope and features of entrepreneurship in the cultural sector. The aim of this paper is to examine some of the key characteristics of cultural entrepreneurship in the way they are presented in the academic literature and main European Union documents and give a working definition of cultural entrepreneurship.
