Summary/Abstract: The report is a study of the first adaptation of the novel Resurrection by Leo Tolstoy. The short film appeared in 1909, when the author was still alive. The text of the study follows the deconstruction of the novel’s character. The report also reviews the issue of the genre elements and approaches of the film director David Griffith to the text of the novel.
