Summary/Abstract: This report aims to examine the main challenges facing small settlements in the context of the demographic crisis and regional disparities in Bulgaria. The study focuses on trends and prospects for the development of mountain and rural tourism and the role of young people in positively influencing it. At the end of the study, the main challenges facing rural and mountain tourism are outlined, and necessary approaches and policies for their effective development are identified.
