Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the main trends and transformations in the age structure of the population in Bulgaria, with a particular focus on the processes of population ageing. It analyzes changes in the distribution of the main age groups and the factors driving these changes, including fertility, mortality, and migration. Special attention is paid to the growing share of the elderly population and its associated socio-economic consequences. The paper also highlights the need for appropriate public policies and measures aimed at addressing the challenges arising from the ongoing demographic processes in the country.
