Summary/Abstract: Initiated by North Dakota State University in the USA, an international comparative study was conducted on the coverage of the US presidential election on November 5, 2024, in elite print dailies. Publications for five days were examined – from Monday, November 4 to Friday, November 8 in 13 countries from six continents. The study was repeated with the coverage of the inauguration of the elected US President Donald Trump – from Saturday, January 19 to Thursday, January 23, 2025. Methodologically, the collected material was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. For data comparability, a single guide with a dozen variables was used. The goal of the study in Bulgaria was to evaluate the coverage of the U.S. elections in two mainstream dailies (“24 Chasa” and “Trud”). In addition to the specifics of quantitative data, a variety of appropriate qualitative methods (such as interviews and focus group discussions) were applied to obtain reliable results.
