Summary/Abstract: Theology is an experience as sweet as honey. Yet it conveys a message of change. If theology does not bring about change, it remains mere theory, and although this is possible, it is by no means desirable. The message is bitter, because every change is difficult and requires sacrifices, but the theology that conveys it is sweet.The theme of our debate is: “Is Theology Still Needed Today?” The question is intended to be provocative, and it raises many further issues. We could reformulate it as follows: What voices and tones should theology adopt in order to respond to the challenges of the world in which we live? These challenges are of two kinds: internal and circumstantial. Internal challenges are those related to the enduring aspirations of human beings, while circumstantial challenges are those related to technology, scientific knowledge, the course of world events, and the broader context in general.
