Summary/Abstract: The stability of the banking system is largely dependent on the Basel III regulatory framework's implementation both internationally and in Bulgaria. Using DSK Bank AD, one of the biggest banks in Bulgaria, as an example, this report aims to investigate the effects of the Basel III regulatory framework on the stability of the country's banking system. The main elements of the Basel III Accords are reviewed in the report, along with the reforms and steps the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) has taken to implement them. Using DSK Bank AD as an example, it also looks at how Basel III has affected lending and public confidence in the banking system.
