Summary/Abstract: The formation of personal identity during early school years is an essential process for the harmonious development of the child. At this stage, students outline their first representations of themselves, develop their self-esteem, understand their emotions and build models of relating to others. Emotional education plays a central role in facilitating these processes, contributing to the child's transition from self-knowledge to self-regulation and, subsequently, to empathetic relating. Through activities structured on the recognition and expression of emotions, students develop an adequate emotional vocabulary and the ability to correctly identify experienced states. Self-regulation is progressively developed through exercises in managing difficult emotions, problem solving, calming strategies and taking responsibility for behavior.
