Summary/Abstract: The paper presents proverbs and idioms that refer to women. They often represent stereotypes. However, this does not change the fact that we can see in them a linguistic image of women. The paper includes proverbs and idioms in two languages: Polish and Italian. The examples have been divided into two groups. One presents a positive image of women in Polish and Italian cultures. The other group includes examples that show a negative image of women in Polish and Italian.
