Summary/Abstract: This report examines the role and significance of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) factors in the operations of commercial banks in Bulgaria in the context of the European Union’s Green Deal and the increasing regulatory requirements. The main ESG components and their intersections with banking activities are analyzed, as well as their impact on financial stability, risk management, reputation, and trust in the banking sector.The report systematizes key principles of sustainable governance and stakeholder communication strategies, with a particular focus on practical steps for the effective integration of ESG into banking policies and processes. The conclusions indicate that sustainable ESG management is a dynamic and continuous process and represents an important prerequisite for the long-term stability and competitiveness of commercial banks.
