Summary/Abstract: Four hundred thousand years ago, humans discovered fire, and this has completely changed their way of living. The progress achieved by technology could be interpreted as an extension of that achieved by biology. Education is no exception. In the digital decade, learning programs, platforms are updated more frequently, and the adoption of immersive technologies and adaptive learning systems in school education has the capacity to increase student engagement. The study aims to assess children engagement level (aged 11-15) with DEP in Bulgarian lower secondary schools emphasizing its multi-dimensional aspect, as well as to identify its underlying factors through the application of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). In view of that, the assessment of engagement with DEP is conducted through children`s reported behaviour by their teachers, which could be influenced by social biases. Additionally, as the number and digital infrastructure of schools are limited, the results may potentially vary and change during different time periods. The EFA showed that student engagement is a complex construct, identifying one dominant factor. The survey results revealed that Bulgarian teachers implement such products confidently in their classes, confirming that children enjoy DEP sessions in various disciplines. Despite the limitations, the current study provides valuable insights for educational providers in Bulgaria, who can leverage by delivering sustained value through enhanced customer-driven products, while educational experts learn that the application of DEP in their teaching practices introduces new approaches to engage students and improve their learning experience.
