Summary/Abstract: The assessment of the implementation of certain measures aimed at reducing or eliminating environmental pollution caused by the transport sector must go through a comprehensive review of the state of the rolling stock, transport infrastructure, and a wide range of effects that can be caused by decisions to limit flights on conditionally short distances within a country. Currently in Bulgaria, the density and level of satisfaction of the population with the railway and road transport network give priority to their use over that of the air transport alternative. At the same time, the contribution of road transport to the formation of harmful emissions in the air is the most significant compared to all other transport alternatives.
