Summary/Abstract: Stock market crashes are a phenomenon which continues to occur also in the XXI century, although they differ from previous periods due to the growing importance of emerging markets and their behavioral patterns. Emerging markets have played a much more important role in the global economy in the last over two decades with growing shares both in global GDP as well as in global trade. Given the special place of the economy in China in global trade and economy, Chinese stock market crashes form a particular niche of scientific interest. In this paper is made an overview of contemporary stock market issues with an emphasis on Chinese and other emerging market stock market crash episodes.
