Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the representation of adolescence in the context of migration in three contemporary German-language novels: Außer sich by Sasha Marianna Salzmann, Dazwischen: Ich by Julya Rabinowich, and Die Brücke vom Goldenen Horn by Emine Sevgi Özdamar. Focusing on female protagonists who negotiate various identity crises and challenges while growing up between cultural, political, and social expectations, the article uses narrative strategies and comparative analysis to show how processes of identity formation in the in-between (the “third space”) are staged in literary terms. The focus is on narrative strategies, multilingualism, spatial semantics, and sexuality.
