Summary/Abstract: This study examines the behaviour of tourists when visiting cultural sites and their willingness to make sustainable choices during their travels. The focus is on the behavioural patterns of visitors to the Rila Monastery as a tourist attraction, aiming to identify key drivers and barriers to responsible tourism behaviour. The research addresses questions such as: To what extent are tourists aware of and follow the principles of responsible tourism? What factors influence their sustainable or unsustainable behaviour? Would they be willing to pay more for services that contribute to the sustainability of the destination? The methodology includes a survey of tourists and visitors to the monastery, regardless of nationality or age. The findings are expected to offer insights into how visitors perceive and apply responsible tourism practices during their stay. This research will contribute empirical data to the scientific debate and serve as a foundation for developing strategies to promote more sustainable practices in popular cultural destinations in Bulgaria.
