Summary/Abstract: At the current stage of its development, tourism is exerting an increasingly tangible pressure on the environment and the tourism resources on which it is based. It is no longer considered a harmless and environmentally friendly industry. In this regard, in recent years, the issue of sustainable development of the tourism industry has become increasingly relevant. This report focuses on achieving environmental sustainability in tourism. The World Economic Forum's assessments of tourism development given to 119 countries from all world regions and subregions were used as its measure. This report makes a comparative analysis of the assessments given under 2 indicators - "natural tourism resources" and "environmental sustainability". The comparison concerns countries, regions and their assessments. Based on the comparative analysis, conclusions have been drawn regarding sustainable tourism development in its ecology and environmental aspects.
