Summary/Abstract: Today's dynamic society is characterised by increasing digitalisation, which is changing the way citizens interact with institutions and participate in public processes. The public sector faces many challenges, and modern solutions must be found to overcome them. Blockchain is an innovative technology that can provide transparent and decentralized data storage, creating the conditions for optimizing public services and increasing trust between citizens and institutions. This study examines and summarizes the opportunities that the technology can provide, such as improving the efficiency of e-government, education, healthcare, corruption, e-voting, and others. The main challenges to the implementation of the technology in the public sector, which should not be overlooked, are also discussed. Practical examples are examined and a comparison is made of the blockchain application in the public processes of Estonia, Georgia, and Sweden.
