Media Publications as a Potential Tool for Promoting Sustainable Accountability and Disclosure of R&D and Innovation

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the results of media monitoring on topics related to research, development, and innovation in Bulgaria. Public disclosure of complete and reliable data on R&D and innovation activities of enterprises protects stakeholders' interests and can be considered a factor supporting the sustainable economic development of the EU. The results show that most media content is neutral. None it reporting data on R&D and innovation. Publications with positive content are mainly descriptive and promotional, focusing on new products, research projects’ results, and international news. The publications with negative sentiments focus on inadequate funding for scientific research, Bulgaria's position in European rankings, and ineffective national policies in the sector.
