Summary/Abstract: The global transformation towards sustainability is challenging the existing economic and social models, requiring a new understanding of mobility, security, and development. The climate migration is emerging to be one of the most serious challenges of the 21st century, with significant potential to transform the geopolitical order and economic models and to exacerbate social inequalities and tensions in vulnerable regions. The article aims at gathering and reviewing existing literature and secondary data as to provide better understanding of climate migration, by examining its factors, characteristics, nature and trends, as to contribute to tracing and forecasting these processes and to help advancing their strategic governance.
