Summary/Abstract: Bulgaria’s transition from planned to marked economy and from totalitarian to democratic rule is reflected in the social, economic and political life in the country. Criminal networks and organizations domineer the country, and unregulated institutions override the official. This creates preconditions for the development of unregulated practices, clientelism being an example. The clientelist relations on their part could facilitate the vote buying.
