Summary/Abstract: Aaron Márton was well-versed in theology, but also in humanities in general. The most defining stage of his intellectual development was his time in Cluj-Napoca, where he served as the pastor of a university. This rather active phase gave Aaron Márton time to reflect on the main characteristics of the many different ideologies of the interwar period. The clarity tha the gained prompted him to act, and so he entered the field of actions without any hesitation. In his lectures, his speeches, his essays and his editorials he discussed the ideas of Liberalism, Bolshevism and Nazism, so as to give directions for his peers, both young and old. As bishop(from 1938 onward), as a child of the people, he knew their troubles and needs well, and he tried his best to aid them. He always stayed true to his motto: Domine, si adhuc populo tuosum necessarius, non recuso laborem.
