Summary/Abstract: As a protruding figurehead of the Roman-Catholic Church from Romania and as a priest of the latin Archdiocese of Bucharest, Monsignor dr. Iosif Gunciu was not allowed to benefit duringhis lifetime of the advantages granted by the church dogma whom he served in, being unable to exert canonical jurisdiction entrusted by clandestine bishop Iosif Schubert, due to existing competition with priest Francisc Augustin. Avoided by the catholic official historiography and missing from its trusted periodicals, he is approached tangentially in contemporary historical studies, having lined up a couple of functions that he provisionary takes hold of. His existence and work depicts past times from the local church. This current study is meant to fill the void of evidences within documents conducted by the slacking renditions entailed by biased researchers or by others who give him a peripheral position in canonical hierarchy, due to the fact that they are not aquainted with the „De Nominaione Substitutorum” Decree nor with its norms of application.
