Summary/Abstract: Based on themes that address issues of everyday life, the literature of the 2000s transcends the boundaries of local culture and integrates into the global literary market. From this perspective, it is interesting to analyze how the merit of this literature lies in its ability to clearly depict contemporary societal issues while integrating into a global literary system that tends to surpass the one of its culture of origin. Thus, rethinking literature in relation to a global, transnational framework is the starting point of studies in the field of World Literature. In the literature of the 2000s, the discussion of themes beyond communism—such as the institution of the family, the body, eroticism, sexuality and homosexuality, illness—is shaped by the target audience, which is unfamiliar with communist experiences, unlike representatives of previous generations who were either actors or witnesses to those events. An approach to the literature of the 2000s within a global framework is based on the premise that a literary work becomes relevant to a reader depending on the connection established between the themes addressed by the writer and the daily concerns and interests of the society in which they live. Building on this idea, the present paper aims to demonstrate that the literature of the 2000s is a literature of consumption, reception, and audience, adapted to contemporary times and global models, where, thematically, the impact of serious everyday issues is particularly visible in the sphere of intimate relationships.
