Summary/Abstract: Literary characters often conceal, beyond aesthetic canons and conventional patterns, identity constructs that reflect the socio-cultural reality of the era that produced them. Their function is either to veil a satirical message or to symbolically encode representations of social archetypes. This technique is masterfully employed by Virgil in the Aeneid, where he allegorically portrays various female typologies characteristic of the Augustan age, thereby opening significant hermeneutic avenues. Within this framework, our analysis will integrate not only interpretative semantics and literary exegesis but also onomastic inquiry. The multidisciplinary nature of this approach will yield a nuanced literary investigation, unveiling an intricate network of symbols and meanings that illuminate the socio-cultural dimensions embedded in the epic narrative. The Aeneid offers an extensive repertoire of female names and figures deeply rooted in the collective consciousness, incorporating invariant cultural models and recurring narrative motifs. The analysis of "simbonyms" allows for the articulation of literary functions that encode messages with both historical and mythical significance. This study aims to elucidate the psychosocial and literary mechanisms underlying the naming of female characters while emphasizing their cultural and aesthetic values. From a methodological perspective, this research adopts an interdisciplinary framework, drawing upon sociolinguistics, anthroponymy, stylistics, and literary criticism.
