Summary/Abstract: This study explores and analyzes the perspectives of Romanian students, whose first language is Romanian, on the teaching and learning of inverse translation, particularly regarding grammatical and lexical aspects. The research involved 30 Romanian students who were interviewed. The interviews were transcribed and subsequently analyzed. The data were interpreted based on the theory of linguistic transfer between languages and on students' reflections about the translation teaching-learning process. The findings suggest that, due to the close relationship between Romance languages, translating from L1 into L2 may lead to grammatical and semantic errors. Furthermore, it is recommended that instructors undergo training in L1–L2 translation in order to acquire pedagogical and methodological tools that they can effectively apply in the classroom.
