Summary/Abstract: The confessional dimension of the theology of the holly confessor priest Dumitru Stăniloae refers to his theological approach and to his theology work. His Christology is based on the universality and centrality of Person of Jesus Christ our Savior in creation, theology, spirituality, and Church and on the unity of the Person and Work of Jesus Christ. The mystery of the union between divine nature and human nature is developed in his works in the spirit of the Chalcedon definition. One aspect which is developed in his dogmatic works referring to anthropology, Christology and ascetics is the patristic tradition of the „suffering character” (τὸ παθητόν) of the human nature of Christ. He developed this patristic tradition in: the human nature of Christ, the sinlessness of Christ, His real temptation through the innocent human passions, the role of human natural will in deification of His human nature. The suffering character has a positive and active aspect in Christ works, referring to the suffering of the divine Word in the body and suffering of deification by His human nature.
