Summary/Abstract: It is known that the transhumanist ideology denies divine transcendence and promotes the idea of self-transcendence and self-deification through science and tehnology, trying to eradicate all aspects of human finitude. Of course most of the goals proposed by transhumanism are more or less utopian, but we still have to be careful about what scientific and technological progress is intended to achieve, especially when this intention takes the form of an ideology. On the one hand, in this paper I will argue why this new form of humanism has all the „ingredients” of a religion. Being a secular religion, transhumanism borrows ideas from Judeo-Christian religion, but at the same time conflicts with it through its secularism. So, on the other hand, I will analyze 5 convergent and divergent points between transhumanism and Christian theology: (1) authority and order; (2) the new man; (3) finitude and mortality; (4) transcendence; (5) evolution and progress.
