Summary/Abstract: The study analyzes the evolution of the Romanian education in the rural area starting with the second half of the 19 th century the beginning of 20 th century. The authors carried out a comparative analysis of the particularities of development of education in rural areas of Bessarabia, a Romanian province under Russian domination for more than a century, and those of the Romania. The favorable context of the Great Union of 1918 allowed the "smoothing" of the differences between the two Romanian regions, and the active educational policies of the Romanian authorities for promoting the science of books in rural Bessarabia allowed the most spectacular progress to be recorded during the interwar period. The authors will undertake a focused analysis of the educational, cultural, and national values promoted in the Romanian school system during this period, as well as examining their impact on the development of the new generations.
