Summary/Abstract: This report presents an in-depth analysis of the development of intelligence and counterintelligence in the context of key geopolitical events, starting from the Cold War period to today’s hybrid threats. The primary focus is on the methods used, technological innovations, and the transformation of intelligence agencies at various historical stages. Attention will be given to the tactics of classical human intelligence, the role of double agents, and the technical means employed by the KGB, CIA, and other leading intelligence agencies. The changes that occurred after the end of the Cold War are analyzed, including the development of cyber intelligence, the intelligence challenges posed by new global threats, and the evolving strategies of national intelligence agencies. The report draws a parallel between the lessons of the past and contemporary security challenges, emphasizing the need for adaptation and modernization within intelligence structures.
