Summary/Abstract: The text explores the Bible’s role as both a literary and religious cornerstone, influencing culture, music, and the arts. It examines the evolution of the biblical canon, from the Greek Septuagint to the division of texts between Catholic and Protestant traditions. The author highlights the development of biblical exegesis, from literal to allegorical interpretations, shaping theological thought in early Christianity. The discussion extends to the Bible’s impact on Europe. The Bible also inspired music, from Gregorian chants to oratorios, by composers such as Bach and Handel, and visual arts, including catacomb paintings and medieval church sculptures, as well as literature, from early Christian hymns and medieval theology to Renaissance biblical philology and modern and contemporary art. Ultimately, the work underscores the Bible’s enduring cultural significance, which influenced literature, music, and the visual arts throughout history.
