Summary/Abstract: The European Parliamentary elections were held in the context of the crisis of the European Union’s institutional system, which lacked the capacity to meet the challenges of the migrant crisis and the economic expectations of citizens. The pro-European ruling parties have suppressed the progress of the Eurosceptics and national parties, but have lost an absolute majority in the European Parliament. For the first time since 1979, the EPP and Social Democrats do not have an absolute majority and was forced to form coalitions with other with liberals from “Renew Europe.” That created major consequences in the process of nomination of the President of European Parliament and the European Commission.
