Summary/Abstract: In the last few years, the world has been faced with a series of global problems of a health, economic, social, environmental and other kind of nature. Along with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on financial and economic systems, certain geographic regions have seen an increase in political tensions, escalating into military conflicts. All this leads to a search for mechanisms to strengthen economic and geopolitical relations between certain groups of countries. The present study is aimed at the analysis of such intergovernmental cooperation as BRICS, the current trends and the future dimensions in financial and economic terms of its eventual expansion (BRICS+).
