Summary/Abstract: The aim of the report is to analyse the profitability in two key sectors of the Bulgarian economy – manufacturing and the trade sector, to highlight the main trends. The study covers the period 2013-2022. The analysis is based on three main profitability indicators: profit margin, return on assets, and return on equity. The results in the two sectors have been compared. Tracing the dynamics of the indicators reveals the influence of their components on the changes found in each of the two sectors. The conclusions summarise the evolution of profitability in the two sectors.
