Summary/Abstract: One of the most discussed topics in the last two years has been Bulgaria's admission to the euro area and, more specifically, the fulfillment of the main Maastricht convergence criterion - similarity in inflation rates in the candidate country and in the European Union. By applying cointegration analysis, the study reveals whether there is a long-term relationship between the inflation rate in Bulgaria and the inflation rate in the European Union and the euro area.
