Summary/Abstract: With the advancement of biotechnology and the growing popularity of direct-toconsumer genetic tests, the traditional model for the distribution of bioproducts is changing. Although these tests are widely advertised as reliable tools for tracing genealogical origins and identifying potential genetic disorders, there are legal, regulatory, and ethical concerns regarding the protection of consumers' genetic data. The global accessibility of this data underscores the need for a unified global legal framework for data protection. The report examines key international legislative practices and explores challenges related to national and transnational biobanks, as well as the risks of using genetic data for marketing purposes.
