Summary/Abstract: The increasing global importance of electric vehicles (EVs) is evident, especially in the context of smart city development, where they serve as the foundation for creating a sustainable and energy-efficient urban environment. However, several significant challenges continue to exist alongside the countless advantages offered by EVs. An important obstacle is the need for more infrastructure for charging electric vehicles, but this is essential for achieving widespread deployment of charging stations, their availability across Bulgaria, as their power supply with green energy, and the positive environmental impact of their use. With the integration of fast charging stations in Bulgaria, the process of electrification of transport would only be impossible in the next stages. The possibility of faster and more efficient charging, as well as other reliefs from the state, will stimulate the replacement of the car fleet in Bulgaria with an electrified one The construction of such stations will require renovation of the power grid and reduction of hydrocarbon emissions.
