Summary/Abstract: Rapid and unexpected changes in the world mean that organisations must seek new solutions in management and leadership. One of the factors that enriches organisations and influences their position on the market is broadly understood diversity. One aspect of diversity is related to the situation of women in the organisation, especially inmanagerial positions. In the paper, the author addresses the issues related to the role and importance of women in the management. The chapter includes a narrative review of literature, the aim of which is to systematise knowledge about the situation of women and men in managerial positions. The aim of the chapter is to find answers to the question: Why is the percentage of women in managerial positions small and the feminine leadership stylenot often used? In order to find answers to such a question, the author tries to identify factors that influence women’s holding managerial positions. Based on statistical data, she presents the current situation of women in the leadership. Using literature of management, leadership, and psychology, she describes stereotypes that are one of the main barriers towomen’s access to managerial positions. Then, referring to various concepts of leadership,the author characterises the “female leadership style” and indicates the reasons why it is the answer to the challenges of the modern world.
