Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to characterise the psychosocial work environment and identify interventions undertaken by employers that model this work environment and positively affect the well-being of employees. The article presents a narrative review of literature covering a wide range of literature in the field of work and organisational psychology, occupational health psychology and human resources management. The importance of well-being for work performance is discussed and the most significant models explaining the impact of the psychosocial work environment on employee health and well-being are presented. The following section presents findings regarding different levels of workplace interventions and their impact on employee well-being. Conclusions are presented indicating that multi-level interventions, taking into account the organisational context, are considered the most effective.
