Summary/Abstract: The contemporary political crises, covering different areas of the world, are not just another stage in the development of the political process but have much deeper dimensions. The growing distrust of citizens in governments and the difficulties in formulating common goals and strategic priorities naturally reflect on political parties, as the main mediator between the political system and society. As representatives of a certain public interest their effectiveness is significantly reduced and this is largely due to problems in their leadership.
