Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses the prospects for the implementation of the RЕРowerEU plan under the EU Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (RRM) and the challenges facing Bulgaria with the dual transformation to a climate-neutral and digital economy. In the context of the paradigm for sustainability (economic, social and ecological), the possibilities and perspectives of the economic transformation are interpreted in relation to: 1) the challenges of the energy transition and the need to stimulate projects with public and private investments; 2) the political economic characteristics of the ongoing transition to energy independence from fossil resources; 3) the imperatives of this transition for the Bulgarian economy in a medium-term perspective. The consequences for Bulgaria's economy and the reforms in the implementation of the RRM and the REРowerEU plan are analyzed in view of the opportunities and threats in the medium term.
