Summary/Abstract: During the last decades, there can be observed a growing trend regarding the proportion of female students in higher education and also more and more female academics are entering the scientific fields. Nonetheless, research shows that for women, the academic sphere remains quite “masculine”, hiding many manifest and latent barriers for women. To what extent do perceive these overt or covert barriers those female academics, who are successful in the academic sphere? To what extent their career narratives do reflect on this issue? The present analysis seeks to answer this questions based on a secondary analysis of the interviews published in the 2021 series of Women in Science of the Nőileg Transylvanian Women’s Magazine. How do the twelve Transylvanian-born interviewees see the opportunities and pitfalls of academic success and has being a women and having children hindered their careers? These are the questions which are analysed.
