Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to evaluate the development of commuting for education from peripheral rural districts of the Czech Republic in the period 1995-2015 in the case of University of Economics, Prague (UEP). The cartogram technique was used for the evaluation of the development of students´ commuting intensity. The base unit is a district (LAU 1). The UEP student is a Czech citizen who ha permanent residence in the Czech Republic and participates in full-time study. Commuting for education has a different intensity from peripheral rural districts of the Czech Republic. In the longterm the relatively high commuting is from the Klatovy district, and also from the border districts of the Královéhradecký region and from the district Uherské Hradiště in the Zlínský region. The availability of the Faculty of Management in Jindřichův Hradec positively affects commuting from adjacent districts of the Jihočeský and Vysočina region.
