Summary/Abstract: The aim of the present research was to investigate the role of mindfulness, perceived emotional intelligence (EI), self-determination and autonomy-supportive interpersonal style of the important others in individual´s difficulties in emotion regulation. Study was conducted on sample of 655 university first-grade students aged 18-23 M=19.6, SD=1.04; 389 females, 266 males) using self-report measures Five-Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ), Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS), Global Motivation Scale (GMS-18), Interpersonal Behaviours Scale (IBS) and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS). Results of correlation and hierarchical multiple regression analyses supported the importance of mindfulness, perceived EI, self-determination and autonomy-supportive interpersonal style of important others (especially parents) in preventing individuals´ difficulties in emotion regulation. Our findings might be relevant to personality counselling.
