Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on the Big Five personality traits and locus of control in the relationship with decision-making styles. The research sample consisted of 226 students (65 males, 161 females) from various Slovak universities. Big Five Inventory (John & Srivastava, 1999), Internal-External Scale (Rotter, 1966) and General Decision-Making Styles (Scott & Bruce, 1995) were used to measure the defined characteristics. Correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis was conducted. The results showed that each personality trait contribute to the prediction of at least one decision-making style: conscientiousness and openness to experience to rational style; openness to experience and agreeableness to intuitive style; neuroticism and agreeableness to dependent style; conscientiousness, neuroticism and agreeableness to avoidant style; conscientiousness, openness to experience and extraversion to spontaneous style. Dependent decision-making style is predicted also by locus of control. These findings are discussed from the perspective of adaptive and non-adaptive decision-making styles.
