Summary/Abstract: The adoption of Act no. 91/2010 Coll. on the promotion of tourism in Slovakia modified the legislation of cooperation of tourism stakeholders at local, regional and national level. It has created an environment for the application of cooperative destination management. Nevertheless, destination management organizations do not have sufficient knowledge or practical experience in applying destination management. The aim of the paper is to examine the application of destination management at regional and local level in Slovakia and identify its biggest problems. The paper is based on primary and secondary data sources using the method of sociological interview and analysis of annual reports of destination management organizations.
