Summary/Abstract: This article presents some of the results of our own research. Constructivist assumptions on the learning process’s specifics were juxtaposed with the analysis of students’ opinions about the content of educational packages, their substantive evaluation, and the description of children’s everyday experiences of working with a textbook, situated in traditional pedagogy. As it turns out, everyday work with an educational package seems to violate the basic assumptions behind modern learning theories, thus bringing education closer to the old behaviourist, transmissive, monologue tradition, created for the bygone world’s needs.
