Summary/Abstract: Contemporary Marxist sociological research on the class structure of industrial societies seems to return to the dialectical method of analysis where class polarization is viewed as a dialectical polarization of power relations. In this way, Marxist sociology emphasizes the relevance of Marx's dialectical method for researching the class structure of modern societies, the relevance of which has been and is disputed by some Marxist researchers who oppose Marx's dialectical method to the method of structuralist-functionalist analysis.
