Summary/Abstract: The monograph consists of five essays on Władysław Broniewski. The first essay, “One-time History,” concerns the poet’s historiosophy (awareness of the inconsistency of historical processes). The second, “Diary — An Introduction to the Reading” presents the creation of a document that accompanied Broniewski during his military service. The third one, “Farewell to Jerusalem,” presents the circumstances of the creation of Broniewski’s canonical poem, “Ballads and Romances,” and at the same time constitutes a grammatological interpretation of the manuscript. The fourth essay, “On Literature Hindering Poetry,” concerns Broniewski’s journalism. The final essay, “To Await Namelessness,” is an attempt to analyze the phenomenon of his popularity and the “communal” treatment of poetry.
