Summary/Abstract: The author describes the mechanisms of inequality in international society and presents the situation of Poland in this hierarchical environment. Referring to the assumptions of the English School, post-structuralism and post-colonialism, she builds a model of a hierarchy based on the “power of discourse” and reflects on the influence of international reality on Poland’s functioning in it. The publication consists of two parts: theoretical, devoted to international community and its rules, and practical, in which the case of Poland is described. As Poland’s place is on the European peripheries, the author explores the activities politicians undertake to strengthen the position of the country.
